Camp Vanadzor Remembers ‘Lisbon 5’

Category: Youth Corps Diary - 2013

July 25, 2013

Today, our 200 campers and counsellors walked over to the local St. Naregatsi church in Vanadzor and paid tribute to the five martyrs of Lisbon. These brave men sacrificed their lives for our motherland 30 years ago and holding a memorial for them in Armenia felt extra special. Afterwards, we joined together for the singing of the ‘Lisbon 5’ song. The remembrance wreath was placed in the war heroes’ memorial park, in front of a Khatchkar. The story and utmost sacrifice of the five martyrs had an influential impact on all the campers and counsellors.
