Our AYF Canada Youth Corps group spent the day in Artsakh (Nagoro-Karabakh Republic). Starting the day off with a tour in the beautiful city of Stepanakert, the capital of Artsakh, our group enjoyed walking around the city core near the National Assembly Parliament buildings. A stop at Mickeyland brought out the inner child in all of us with bumper cars and fun rides. After much walking and adventures, we worked up an appetite and decided to enjoy a delicious lunch at Yerevan Hotel. As we headed to the city of Shushi, we stopped at a memorial statue of Pegor Ashod – one of the hero’s of the Artsakh Liberation. Shushi’s views were breathtaking, with its natural greenery and old churches. The group was overwhelmed at the sight of Ghazanchetsots Cathedral. We ended the day by meeting at the A.R.F. Office of Artsakh with our fellow ARF West Coast USA Youth Corps groups and the local Artsakh AYF Chapter. It was a great day and we look forward to our last day in Artsakh tomorrow.
